| 東嶽大帝平安 | (Dong Yue Da Di) The Great Emperor of the Sacred Mountain of the East (Dong Yue Da Di) also known as The Lord Emperor of Mount Tai. According to his position as the Eastern Mountain Lord of the total of the 5 Main Mountains and with the element of the East, he was being appointed as one of the High Ranking Deities that were able to set or arrange for one's Life and Death. Mount Tai lies in the East, where the sun rises and all things begin at the intercourse of Yin and Yang. The ancient people considered Mount Tai as the way to heaven and "equal to heaven" in height. That’s where all living things are born. The Great Emperor of the Sacred Mountain of the East is being appointed by the heaven as the protection god for the emperors and govern the world. He has been also in charge of men's life, death and longevity. In the time of Dynasty Tang, he was honoured as “Sovereign Equal to Heaven” (TianQi Wang). While during the Song Dynasty, he was honoured as "Benevolent Saintly King of the Sacred Mountain of the East Who is Equal to Heaven" (Tianqi Rensheng Wang) and during Yuan Dynasty, he was appointed as “Tianqi Dasheng Ren Shengdi”. Then, he was restored as “The Sovereign of Mount Tai” in the time of Ming Dynasty. The divine birthday of the Great Emperor of the Sacred Mountain of the East falls on the third month of the lunar calendar.
